Sweet Jane

I walked into Jane's room at the hospice today after work and she was awake. I was happy she was awake because she was sleeping yesterday when I stopped by to see her. She is the tiniest little thing you ever did see! I didn't know a human could be so terribly thin and still breathe. Her hair is short and white and she has soft, hazy blue eyes. She is 97 years old and one of the sweetest souls I've ever been blessed with knowing.

Gratitude

It's been an interesting week for me. I had a huge breakthru concerning getting stuck in my Dark Night and I've started making changes that I've needed to make for awhile.

I had my second hospice visit today and my head is a wee bit scrambled. One of my patients is a 97 year old woman and even though I've only seen her twice, I love her dearly. This caught me by surprise. I knew I would care and I knew I would have compassion but I didn't plan on loving this sweet soul - not so tenderly.

My First Hospice Visit

I had my first Hospice visit today. And I walked away feeling like everything was perfect in my world. I have found my calling.

When I first decided to volunteer to work with hospice clients, I was surprised by how many people thought I was making a mistake. So many didn't understand why I wanted to work with dying people. They thought it would be too hard on me. And maybe it will be, but tell me, where does it say that life isn't hard sometimes? Why do we believe we have to stay away from "hard" or "painful"? Wasn't it the "hard" or the "painful" that taught us the most?

The Value of a Single Life

I noticed something interesting in the Bible that I'd like to share with you. In the beginning, one man, Adam, condemned the entire human race to death thru sin. And one man, Jesus Christ lifted all of mankind out of sin, if they choose to believe. One man, Noah, was saved from the flood. One man, Judas, brought about the crucifixion of our Savior. One man, John the Baptist, prepared the way for the Christ.
