And The Lamb Wept........
The angels couldn't move, they could barely draw a breath
The words they'd just heard told of violence, spoke of death
And as a crystal tear of grief slid slowly down His face,
The angel's hearts were breaking, for the Lamb, the Human Race
And the Lamb wept.................

With haste, the Host departed, their time was running out
They descended on the earth with a mighty battle shout
They whispered words of warning and prayed that men would hear
And for every word unheeded, the Lamb would shed a tear
And the Lamb wept.................

The warnings of the angels saved many lives that day
Some people changed their plans, some simply stayed away
And yet, there were the others, sent in to battle Hell
They were, what we called heroes and they saved lives as well
And the Lamb wept.................

The angels heard the engines roar, they knew this was the hour
The plane bore down, it surged ahead into the Northern Tower
The angels gently cradled every soul that died that day
The Lamb slowly bowed His head, to The Father He did pray
And the Lamb wept.............

The angels swarmed the Norther Tower, their strength, it bore the weight
With pounding wings they held it up, they kept that building straight
But when their strength began to wane and effort made them groan
Then power flowed from God above, right from the Holy Throne
And the Lamb wept...............
No More.....................................

The second plane made it's approach, the engine throbbed with power
It never swerved, it stayed on course, it pierced the Southern Tower
The fires billowed out black smoke and soot rained down below
But people's prayers rode the wind in a steady, urgent flow
And the Lamb wept..................
No More......................

The angel's couldn't do no more, they had to back away
So God reached down to do the rest because the people prayed
But when the time had finally come to let the towers go
Two beams that formed the Cross remained, so every man would know
And the Lamb wept..................
No More.............................

Two more planes came down that day, all part of Satan's plan
This "Nation Under God" had suffered evil in its land
And yet, amidst their loss and grief, the people stopped to pray
They knew their path to healing meant that God must lead the way
And the Lamb wept.................
