Tying God's Hands

If you look at the world around us, its pretty obvious that God doesn't seem to be very active. And I think it's because in some ways, we have tied His hands. How many of us go to bed each night and pray only to wonder why it seems our prayers are never answered?
God is spirit. He does not exist in the material so the only way He can manifest in the material without interfering with our freewill is THROUGH us and IN us.
In the Bible, God tells us that He can accomplish great things not by His might, but by His spirit. When God works THROUGH us, it is to bless others and when God works IN us, it is to bless us. This is why the Bible tells us to "walk in the spirit" and be "led by the spirit".
When we walk by a homeless individual and our spirits tug at us to care and perhaps give some money or give our coat, is that God trying to work through us? And when we judge that person as not worthy of our help do we then tie God's hands by refusing to help? And when fear of our own lack due to our charity prevents us from helping, are we tying God's hands then too?

And when fear tells us to take this job that we don't really want because we fear lack, do we tie God's hands from leading us to a job we would want? Or when we settle for a mate we don't truly love because we fear lack of companionship, do we tie God's hands from giving us our true soul mate? For how can we receive what God has to give, if we have already decided to take? And I wonder how God feels about us taking that which He has not blessed?

God's spirit is an awesome thing. Where do you find it? In His Word. Aren't my words here a reflection of my spirit? Just like His Word is a reflection of His spirit. And aren't we told that God did not give us a spirit of fear but of courage? So when we walk in courage and love and faith, just like Christ did, isn't that too walking in the spirit?
With this understanding, it is easy to see how Satan works in this world. By fostering fear of lack, Satan forces us to "settle" and in settling, we never, ever get to fully realize all the blessings God has for us. Isn't it time we untied His hands and let Him manifest His glory IN us, and THROUGH us?
gently,laura
